PT KAI Becomes Benchmark Of The Railway Sector In ASEAN

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) has become a benchmark for the railway sector in ASEAN regarding the achievements and products that make KAI the most complete train operator in Southeast Asian countries.

"With the operation ofASH, the first high-speed train in ASEAN, as well as other innovation-based trains such as Suite Class Communication, panoramic, new generation and dinning on train, it is hoped that KAI can become a benchmark for train operators in the ASEAN area," said KAI Commercial Director Hadith Surya Palapa in Jakarta, Friday, August 30.

KAI itself is ready to succeed in organizing the 44th ASEAN Railway CEOs' Conference (ARCEOs' Conference) which will be held in Bandung, Indonesia on September 2-5, 2024.

The event will be a platform for sharing the best practices in terms of operations and maintenance, digital transformation and rail commercial, as well as delegates will also have the opportunity to try out the first high-speed train on ASEANASH, Light Rail Transit (LRT), and the Panoramic Train.

ARCEOs Conference, Hadith said, aims to equate perceptions about trains as a symbol of transportation that combines eight countries to develop together.

On a separate occasion, transportation observer Djoko Setijowarno from the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) said that PT KAI could become a railway benchmark in ASEAN because KAI managed to manage and operate various complete train modes ranging from high-speed trains to Commuter KRL trains.

"As an archipelagic country and has many people, Indonesia has a more complete rail mode. We have trains to serve urban transportation, long-distance trains between cities, to high-speed trains," said Djoko.

The Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) itself initiated coordination with PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) in the implementation of the Proof-of-Concept (PoC) test of the autonomous tram or Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) in Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

For information, the 44th ASEAN Railway CEOs Conference (ARCEOs) will be attended by eight train operators throughout Southeast Asia, namely Tanah Melaysia Railways (Malaysia), Vietnam Railways (Vietnam), Ministry of Public Works and Transport (Kamboja), Lao National Railways (Laos), Philippine National Railways (Philippines), Myanma Railways (Myanmar), State Railway of Thailand (Thailand), and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (Indonesia).

KAI has prepared this event carefully, including carrying out courtesy visits to all participating countries as part of preparation. In addition, he explained that ARCEOs Conference is important because it will involve experts and practitioners who come from various countries.

By hosting it, Indonesia can showcase achievements and potential in railway development and increase international collaboration between countries.
