JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has completed the construction of a rented flat (Rusunawa) at Muhammadiyah University Jakarta (UMJ) in Ciputat, South Tangerang.

Rusunawa UMJ was built with a budget of Rp. 17.4 billion sourced from the APBN. Then, it was carried out from December 2022 to December 2023. The implementing contractor was PT Bangun Atma Persada with a construction management consultant of PT Adhikara Mitracipta.

The UMJ Flats were built by the Ministry of PUPR through the Java I Housing Provision I Center (BP2P) of the Directorate General of Housing. The location for the construction of the UMJ Rusunawa is on Jalan KH Ahmad Dahlan, Ciputat, South Tangerang City, Banten Province.

"There are 12 flat towers for Muhamadiyah University in 2022-2024," said Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR Iwan Suprijanto in a written statement, quoted on Saturday, August 31.

The UMJ Flats consist of one tower as high as three floors and have 36 units, including two units for type 24 disabled.

Until now, the Rusunawa has been inhabited by a number of students and UMJ students because it has been equipped with various facilities. Including furniture, clean water system, waste water system, fire protection system, electrical, waste system and lightning rod.

The UMJ Rusunawa has been inaugurated by the Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono together with the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy on Friday, August 30.

In his remarks, Minister Basuki hoped that the UMJ Rusunawa could be useful for supporting the education process.

"We built flats for educational institutions on the orders of the President (Joko Widodo) and the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Muhadjir Effendy). I always remind you that in the construction of educational facilities, it must be done with sincere intentions, because it is really worth charity," he said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said the Ministry of PUPR had built a lot of educational infrastructure managed by Muhammadiyah.

"Not only Rusunawa, around 70 other facilities/infrastructure have been built during the leadership of Minister Basuki. Hopefully, everything will be charity for him," he said.
