BRI Boss Reveals Strategy To Achieve Sustainable Growth

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) Sunarso revealed that he has two strategies to grow sustainably in the future.

BRI President Director Sunarso conveyed the first strategy, namely to increase the class of existing customers with various empowerment and mentoring programs.

Sunarso added that the second strategy is to find new sources of growth, in this case by targeting the ultra micro segment through Holding Ultra Micro (UMi) together with Madani National Capital (PNM) and Pegadaian.

"After 3 years of formation, Ultra Holding has experienced tremendous growth," he said in the Public Expose Live 2024, Thursday, August 29.

Sunarso conveyed that the contribution of PNM and Pegadaian to the total BRI Group's micro loans and financing was 20.3 percent, an increase from the previous 18.7 percent in the second quarter of 2023.

Meanwhile, until the end of the second quarter of 2024, Holding UMi has succeeded in serving 176 million savings customers and integrating more than 36.1 million borrower customers with outstanding loans and financing reaching IDR 622.3 trillion, or growing 7.7 percent year on year (yoy).

"With good financial fundamentals, as well as BRI's ability to serve the wider community, coupled with the new source of growth from the ultra micro holding, BRI is optimistic that it can continue to make positive and sustainable performance," said Sunarso.

Sunarso added that BRI continues to be committed to serving all levels of society to be realized through a hybrid bank strategy, including the existence of Agent BRILink and BRImo super app.

Until the end of July 2024, BRI has more than 1 million BRILink Agents spread across 62 thousand villages. This number is recorded to have covered more than 80 percent of the total villages in Indonesia. The transaction volume of Agent BRILink during January July 2024 has reached Rp899 trillion," added Sunarso.

On the other hand, the Company also continues to strengthen the BRImo super app ecosystem. By the end of June 2024, BRImo had been used by more than 35.2 million users with a transaction volume of Rp2,574 trillion or grew 35.81 percent yoy.
