JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) targets as many as 4,000 small industries to get halal certification by the end of 2024.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry Eko SA Cahyanto said that so far there have been 3,095 small industries that have been provided with halal industry certification assistance.

"This year, the free halal certification facilitation process is running with a target of 4,000 small industries, both on a regular basis and self-declare," said Eko in his remarks at the Kick Off Indonesia Halal Industry Awards (IHYA) 2024 at the Ministry of Industry Building, Jakarta, Monday, August 26.

Eko said, to facilitate data collection and selection for halal industry certification assistance in 2024, the Ministry of Industry in the process of integrating registration for halal certification facilitation through the National Industrial Information System (SIINAs) which is interconnected with the Halal BPJPH.

According to him, his party also continues to strengthen the institutional halal certification through the establishment of the Halal Examining Agency (LPH).

Until now, 18 LPHs have been accredited within the Ministry of Industry spread throughout Indonesia.

"In the future, we hope to increase the number of LPHs that can serve the industrial community even more widely," he said.

In order to promote the national halal industry, said Eko, the Ministry of Industry has implemented and actively participated in exhibitions of halal products at home and abroad, such as Almaty Halal Expo in Kazakhstan, OIC Halal Expo in Istanbul Turkey and Russia Halal Expo in Kazan, Russia.

He said most of the participants who participated in the exhibition were the winners of IHYA. Therefore, in the future, IHYA winners have the opportunity to participate in 15 international-scale halal exhibitions in the world and have a great opportunity to expand market access.

"Based on these steps, we are ready to continue to encourage the growth of the halal industry to host in our own country and realize Indonesia's vision of becoming a leading halal producer in the world," he added.
