The Ministry Of PUPR Calls There Are Still Many Subsidized Houses That Have Not Been Targeted

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing emphasizes the importance of targeting the distribution of housing assistance, considering that there are still many subsidized houses received by people who are not entitled.

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PUPR, Iwan Suprijanto, said that there is still a lot of government homework in providing housing, one of which concerns real housing lack of ownership (backlog) data.

According to him, the decline in the housing backlog rate from 12.7 million in 2021 to 9.9 million units in 2023 is just an indication.

In fact, the government still does not have specific individual data regarding people who fall into the category of requiring a home.

"In addition, data regarding community groups who do not yet have a decent house is still incomplete," said Iwan as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 23.

Iwan said the quota for housing subsidy program assistance through the housing financing liquidity facility (FLPP) which reached 166,000 units this year had been allocated.

However, Iwan found, many subsidized houses in several empty provinces were not inhabited. The vacancy rate reached 60 80 percent.

In addition, he also highlighted the findings of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) regarding the transfer of subsidized houses to other parties who were not entitled.

"Therefore, the government supports the addition of this FLPP quota, but it must be right on target," he said.

FLPP is one of the programs in the housing sector that allows low-income people (MBR) to be able to own houses with lighter interest rates, namely a fixed 5 percent interest rate as long as the tenor runs, with a maximum mortgage installment of 20 years.

The requirements for FLPP mortgage recipients, among others, have never received subsidies or housing financing assistance from the government, do not own a house, and have a maximum income of IDR 8 million per month.

The price of the KPR subsidy FLPP is priced from Rp166 million to Rp240 million per unit according to zoning.

According to BP Tapera data as of August 15, 2024, the realization of FLPP distribution reached 111,784 units worth Rp13.62 trillion.
