PT PLN (Persero) signed a Protocol of Cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) regarding the Energy Transition Investment on the sidelines of the 2nd Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) in Jakarta.

PLN Finance Director Sinthya Roesly explained that the collaboration between PLN and JBIC has been going on for almost 20 years. During that time, JBIC has been involved in PLN's strategic projects.

"I am sure, this is a very positive thing for PLN and JBIC. In the future PLN will continue to advance and develop in the energy transition as well as decarbonization, especially in Indonesia," explained Sinthya, Friday, August 23.

Sinthya also explained that the PLN-JBIC collaboration protocol will cover many aspects such as financial support for the development of new and renewable energy (EBT), capacity development support, and financing for potential projects.

"We call it a'sustainable and environmentally friendly financing' to support all initiatives that we are trying to manage climate change," he added.

Managing Executive Officer of Global Heads of Infrastructure and Environment Finance Group JBIC, Hiroki Sekine, said that his party was enthusiastic about being able to continue collaborating with PLN. He saw that this collaboration was in line with the Japanese Government's proposal in establishing the Asia Zero Emissions Community (AZEC).

"We want to strengthen PLN's collaboration to realize common goals. I hope this protocol increases the level of friendship and collaboration in order to achieve our main agenda, namely achieving carbon neutrality," concluded Hiroki.
