Celebrating RI's Anniversary, PT IRT Pockets 55 Million Working Hours Without Accident

JAKARTA - The moment of celebrating the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia today presents its own meaning for PT Indo Raya Tenaga (IRT) employees. This is because they have been able to record 55 million working hours that are free from the threat of accidents.

"Thank God SWT, because for the safety side, we have recorded 55 million hours of human work without accidents. Meanwhile, from the construction side, we are also on target," said Deputy General Manager of PT IRT, Kardi Bin Kasiran, while acting as inspector of ceremonies while commemorating the Indonesian Independence Day at the PT Indo Raya Tenaga Site Office, Suralaya, Pulomerak, Cilegon City, Saturday 17 August.

This condition, he said, could be realized because of the prayers, support and cooperation of all elements involved in the Java 9 & 10 PLTU development project, which has a capacity capacity of 2x1000 MW.

In front of about 150 workers, Kardi said that the Java 9&10 PLTU construction project had been faced with various challenges. However, because it imitated Indonesian freedom fighters who have a complete unity and noble goal, his party could go through these various obstacles. As a result, the current construction project of the Java 9 & 10 PLTU has reached 99 percent.

The same is true when we form this 9 & 10 project starting from planning to today, cannot be separated from challenges and obstacles. Of course, the attitude of the fighters is an example that we must be persistent in facing challenges and obstacles until the realization of this Java 9 & 10 PLTU," he said.

He conveyed that the red and white flag-raising ceremony must also be held as a form of gratitude for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia that has been achieved by the fighters. Their struggle for independence is exemplary.

"Despite the many challenges at that time, 79 years ago, as a united and intact country, Indonesia managed to echo the proclamation of our independence and was recognized by nations in the world," said Kardi.

For PT Indo Raya Tenaga (IRT), Special Purpose Company (SPC) for the Java 9&10 Ultra Super Critical (USC) (2 x 1,000 MW) generation project, work safety and health are a priority to be implemented before project work begins. Implementation of Work Safety and Health (K3) in daily life becomes a habit that will be carried out in the future.

It should be noted that the construction of this PLTU project adopted environmentally friendly product production (SCR) technology, the only one in Indonesia, since January 2020. Previously, IRT proved to have surpassed 45 million man-hours without any work accidents (now 55 million working hours).

The performance of 45 million working hours alone is equivalent to the achievements of a number of leading world-class companies that run K3 with a very high level of commitment.

This consistency even received appreciation from the government, both central and regional. A number of awards have been given by the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) and the Banten Provincial Government in 2024, one of which is the Achievement of Zero Work Accidents for Companies or Zero Accidents.

The Ministry of Manpower also provides rewards for efforts by PLTU Jawa 9&10 managers to maintain occupational safety and health.
