79th Anniversary Of Indonesian Independence, Deputy Minister: Momentum For Songsong's Food Anniversary

Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono stated that the commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024 is an important momentum to welcome food sovereignty, focusing on increasing production and strengthening national food security.

"Today, 17 August 2024 celebrates the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. Today we have a solemn ceremony, at 7 o'clock all of them are present. These are agricultural troops, farmer-farm troops, the burning spirit is ready to welcome Indonesia's food sovereignty," Wamentan said, quoting Antara.

The Deputy Minister led the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, which was held in the courtyard of the Ministry of Agriculture's Office ceremony. In this ceremony, Deputy Minister Sudaryono called for the spirit of food independence for Indonesia.

Sudaryono also encouraged agricultural troops from Sabang to Merauke, to continue working for Indonesia. Moreover, now is an important time for the agricultural sector to continue to increase production amid the threat of climate change and world hunger.

"This is our effort, our hard work in relation to filling independence on how our country is sovereign in the food sector," he also said.

He added that currently the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman has assigned Echelon I and II of the Ministry of Agriculture to go directly to food production centers in thirteen provinces of Indonesia to ensure the acceleration of Indonesia's food production with a pumping program, additional park areas by optimizing swampland, and overlapping gogo rice.

Furthermore, Wamentan revealed that during several of his visits, he witnessed the extraordinary dedication of the Ministry of Agriculture team, which had been on the field for days for weeks without returning home.

They build posts in various districts and cities according to their respective responsibilities, in an effort to increase agricultural productivity.

The Deputy Minister assessed that this sacrifice was a big act taken in order to carry out the mandated task. Even though it is a task and an order that must be carried out, he also emphasized the importance of sincerity in carrying out these responsibilities.

"I think it is a big sacrifice and of course apart from being the task of the orders that we must carry out, everything is sincerity. The results that God willing, we will achieve later, will also be useless deeds for all of us," said the Deputy Minister.
