JAKARTA - As part of our commitment to strengthening fleet capacity and increasing international shipping operations, Meratus has added MV Meratus Kaimana, a new container ship with a capacity of 693 TEUs, to a growing fleet.

This ship is the third of eight ships imported, aimed at strengthening logistics services throughout Indonesia. After completing its inaugural voyage from Nansha, China, MV Meratus Kaimana will be dedicated to the PNG Express International Route, which serves major ports such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Dili, Motukea, Lae, and return to Jakarta.

"This strategic investment is part of a comprehensive Meratus fleet update program designed to ensure the reliability and operational excellence of our container ships. This acquisition confirms Meratus' commitment to providing efficient delivery services and meets customer expectations with high-performance assets," said Keith Choo, Meratus' Chief Trade International Officer, in a statement, Tuesday, August 13.

The MACon call ceremony for MV Meratus Kaimana was held at the OJA Terminal, a facility that is now under the Meratus Group after the successful acquisition of PT ICTSI Jasa Prima last February. The event, which was held on Monday, August 12, 2024, was attended by Meratus and Guna Mulyana directors, President Director of PT IPC Petikes Terminal, and his team.

Keith Choo stressed that the introduction of MV Meratus Kaimana is an integral part of the Meratus fleet rejuvenation strategy aimed at strengthening the company's international shipping capacity.

"We are taking the necessary steps to respond to increased shipping demand and address challenges such as port congestion and a tight international shipping schedule. By continuing to invest in special shipping assets and solutions, Meratus will strengthen its position in the international shipping market, particularly in Asia," Keith said.

In his remarks, Guna Mulyana, President Director of IPC TPK said that in terms of the TPK IPC terminal, he would ensure the readiness of tools and planning in providing efficient loading and unloading services.

"The presence of MV Kaimana and direct service for China will strengthen the collaboration between IPC TPK and Meratus Line in providing alternative shipments of goods to business people. Optimizing loading and unloading service IPC TPK will encourage energy efficiency on the terminal side," he explained.

Meratus' new fleet is equipped with the latest innovations specifically designed to increase productivity by reducing loading and unloading time while the ship is at the port, thereby minimizing waiting time at the port. The positive impact of this asset investment also extends to energy efficiency, in line with Meratus' sustainability goals.

As Meratus continues to pursue its vision of becoming a leader in this industry, the company remains focused on becoming a logistics and maritime integrator that provides efficient logistics solutions. In addition, Meratus is also expanding its customer base across the region, especially in Asia. By synergizing highly specialized delivery solutions, including trains, land, air, and sea, Meratus is ready to introduce further innovation in the future.
