JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the Vice Presidential Palace in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, will begin next week.

The groundbreaking of the project is scheduled for 12 August.

"Yes (One of the Vice President's Palace will be groundbreaking)," said Basuki in Jakarta, quoted Friday, August 9.

The Acting Head of the IKN Authority (OIKN) also explained that the construction of the Vice Presidential Palace in the archipelago is expected to be completed within one year.

"(The process) is a year, the fastest is a year," he said.

Apart from the Vice Presidential Palace, said Basuki, a number of other infrastructure projects will start next week. He said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to leave for IKN on August 11, 2024, to attend the groundbreaking for the construction of these projects.

"So, Mr. President there 11 (August), afternoon he arrived there. 12.13.14 (August) he just returned. Well, among them there is a groundbreaking, only four (groundbreaking)," he said.

Previously, Deputy for Funding and Investment of the IKN Authority (OIKN) Agung Wicaksono said, there were four companies that would conduct the seventh groundbreaking in the archipelago in mid-August.

"There are already four companies that have confirmed (groundbreaking). There are Swissbell Hotels, BCA, RGE and PT Intiland Development Tbk," Agung told reporters at the PUPR Ministry office, Jakarta, Friday, August 2.

"Of course the date follows the schedule," he continued.

When asked about RGE's initials, Agung also confirmed that his extension was the Royal Golden Eagle. It is known, RGE is a company owned by conglomerate Sukanto Tanoto. "Royal Golden Eagle, that's right," he said.

Even so, Agung was reluctant to reveal the total investment value of various projects that would be groundbreaking. He explained that an announcement about this would be made if the final documents were completed.
