PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) noted that the number of BSI Agents reached 103,614 agents spread from Aceh to Papua, with a volume of around 15,000 transactions worth IDR 31 trillion until July 2024.

BSI Sales & Distribution Director Anton Sukarna hopes that the high volume of this transaction in the future can move the community's economy to grassroots, especially in the midst of dynamic economic conditions. He said, almost 60 percent of BSI Agents are spread across Aceh Province and the rest are on the island of Java.

"BSI hopes to make this sharia ecosystem alive and have a good impact on social and economic society in the future. Through this BSI Agent, BSI continues to strive to increase Islamic financial literacy and inclusion throughout Indonesia," Anton said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, August 8.

Anton said that the presence of BSI Agents further strengthens services and fosters Islamic banking inclusion. The decline in good behavior agents proves that public interest in Islamic financial transactions is increasing which has a positive impact on opening new jobs through the BSI Agent profession.

On average, BSI Agents are grocery stores and credit stores. This means that the role of BSI Agents can be adopted by many people. Anton added, to become BSI Agents, of course, the company has special standards to ensure that the services provided are the best.

"We have standards and provide sufficient knowledge briefing to prospective agents so that they comply with the company's service standards," said Anton.

This year, the company is targeting potential areas to further spread the presence of BSI Agent services. One way that is done is the development of potential MSMEs, grocery stalls, to the community or halal ecosystem.

Thus, noted the company, optimizing services to increase banking inclusion and Islamic finance can be maintained, especially in villages and areas outside the reach of branch offices.

"We want to open up new opportunities for people to increase their family's income and well-being," said Anton.

Good moral agents themselves are a program from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the provision of banking or other financial services through bank cooperation with other parties (bank agents). This collaboration is supported by the use of information technology facilities.

Good moral agents are present because OJK and the banking industry are committed to supporting the realization of financial inclusion. This refers to the aspirations of the Indonesian government which launched the National Financial Inclusive Strategy (SNKI) program in June 2012, one of which is branchless banking through a smart selling agent.
