Kemenkop UKM Calls 74 Percent Of Goods Sold In Lokapasar From Imports

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) said that the total number of SMEs that have entered the digital ecosystem has reached 22 million. However, 74 percent of the goods sold in the local market are imported goods.

Acting (Plt) Deputy for SMEs at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs, Temmy Setya Permana, admitted that he had not recorded the source of goods sold by SMEs in the marketplace. This is because traders in the local market can easily violate the rules, one of which does not include the country of origin of the goods sold.

"In fact, we have pushed through the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 31 of 2024 to include the country of origin of goods sold. The impact of violating these rules is the massive import products in the country," Temmy said in a media discussion at the Kemenkop UKM office, Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, August 7.

It is known, Permendag Number 31/2023 regulates the trading process through digital platforms. In general, the regulation regulates the procedures and conditions for selling goods in the local market.

Temmy said that the massive contribution of domestic imported products made the manufacturing sector contribution to the national economy to more than 20 percent in 2019 to 18.67 percent in 2023.

"Massifnya produk impor di dalam negeri membuat gejaman deindustrialisasi dengan menurutnya kontribusikan sektor industri ke perekonomian nasional," tegasnya.

Therefore, said Temmy, his party also proposed moving the import port of consumer goods to the eastern part of Indonesia. He admitted that he was analyzing the impact of the proposal on the national economy.

Nevertheless, Temmy is optimistic that the proposal will be discussed at a limited meeting (Ratas) chaired by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"We have to present a detailed solution. So, the proposal cannot be submitted carelessly because this is also related to infrastructure problems," he added.
