Acquisition Of Cambodian Rice Company, Bulog Reveals Entering The Study Stage And Improvement Of Infrastructure

JAKARTA - The Bulog General Company (Perum) revealed that the stages of the plan to acquire rice companies in Cambodia in maintaining domestic rice supply are still in the stage of studying and improving infrastructure.

Bulog's Director of Public Company Business (Perum) Febby Novita explained that the plan to acquire a rice company from Cambodia is still in the study stage by his party and is still preparing to improve domestic infrastructure.

"We'll just talk about it first. How do we maximize the fulfillment of the infrastructure. There hasn't been any follow-up yet," he said after the Fun Morning Bulog event, Sunday, August 4.

Previously it was reported, the President Director of Perum Bulog Bayu Krisnamurthi confirmed that the planned acquisition of a rice company from Cambodia would not interfere with domestic rice production. In particular, the small milling industry.

Bayu explained that the acquisition was a step by the government to secure rice stocks if Indonesia needed imports.

However, Bayu continued, if Indonesia does not need additional rice, it will be sold to the international auction market.

"Why should we worry? It means that if I have rice or Bulog has rice in Cambodia, if we need it, we take it. If we don't need it, we'll just trade in international trading," he said in Jakarta, written Friday, June 21.

In addition, Bayu said the reason for this acquisition plan was aimed at preventing Indonesia from looking for rice producing countries. Considering that many countries think they are closing rice exports.

"We make it possible to have an agent open there. Then when we can run well, look at each other's situation, what if we buy them in mills, mill them up like that and so on. So this is a step to make sure we can guarantee more supply if we need to," he said.
