JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono opened the Electric Karting Race 2024 event at the Electric Vehicle Circuit (EV) PUPR, the office of the Directorate of Road and Bridge Engineering Development, Bandung, West Java.

Basuki said that the second electric gokart race in Indonesia was held due to collaboration between the Ministry of PUPR and the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI).

"Today I feel honored that our event was attended by the Chairman of IMI (Bambang Soesatyo) and I reported to him about this the second time in the fight for the PUPR Minister's Cup to be even more enthusiastic than other prizes," Basuki said as quoted from an upload on the PUPR Ministry's Instagram @kemenpupr, Saturday, August 3.

Basuki hopes that this event will not only be held in Bandung, but also in other provinces. Thus, he said, this electric gokart race could become a national activity in the future.

"Electric Karting is not only in Bandung and later we will not only be in IKN in the second series, but if possible in other provinces. So, this is a national activity and tourism in Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, IMI Chairman Bambang Soesatyo expressed his appreciation to Minister Basuki for various efforts from the Ministry of PUPR which plans to build circuits in all provinces of Indonesia.

"We from IMI welcome and at the same time give extraordinary appreciation because of the efforts of the Ministry of PUPR to build circuits in all of these provinces, to encourage the birth of our national racers in the future," he said.
