Badanas Proposes Wheat And Salt Flour To Be Included In The Circle Of Basic Materials

JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) revealed that wheat flour and consumption salt are proposed to be included in the circle of important staples that must be guaranteed availability.

"So you see, this connection with wheat flour and consumption salt is proposed on the advice of ministries/agencies to enter the circle of important staples that must be guaranteed availability. We only guarantee its availability, then related to government food reserves, if indeed it must be reserved later, we will spare it," said Acting (Plt) Main Secretary of Bapanas Sarwo Edhy in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, July 29.

He said that the proposal for the inclusion of flour and salt consumption into basic commodities is important because the two commodities are goods that are widely consumed by the community.

"It's like that. So it's not required, but if for example it's necessary, it can be reserved," he said.

Currently, there are 11 commodities that are included in government reserves, namely rice, onions, chilies, soybeans, corn, poultry meat, poultry eggs, ruminant meat, consumption sugar, cooking oil and fish.

For information, the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi encourages all relevant stakeholders to jointly strengthen the synergy of the independent and sovereign national food ecosystem with integrity.

According to Arief, the realization of national food security that is independent and sovereign is built on a sustainable food ecosystem.

This is to encourage protection for farmers, breeders, and fishermen to increase competitiveness, maintain supply stability and food prices.

For this reason, Arief invites all food business actors to synergize in the horizontal integration of the national food ecosystem for the common interest so that it can provide the greatest benefit in order to realize Indonesia Gold 2045 while still paying attention to nature and the environment.
