The Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation supervises and collects data on tourism transportation at several illegal pool locations in Tangerang City, Banten, to realize safe tourism transportation.

Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Risyapudin Nursin said the purpose of monitoring and collecting data on tourism bus transportation was to reinforce regulations for people's transportation vehicles in Indonesia.

"Tourism bus companies require requirements for a permanent and regular route by having a transportation business license and tracking license," said Risyapudin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, July 29.

He conveyed, in the context of the tourism bus autobus (PO) company, one of the conditions that must be met by the bus PO is to provide vehicle storage facilities.

He said that suspicious data had been found and there were several bus storage places indicated to be illegal, so the equipment would be checked.

"This activity is a step in the follow-up to the evaluation of bus accidents that are rampant. This is an important step to avoid an increase in the number of accidents in Indonesia," he said.

He said the supervision was carried out at five illegal pool points in Tangerang City, namely three pools on Jl. Kyai Haji Hasyim Ashari, and one pool on Jl. Merdeka, and one pool on Jl. Imam Bonjol.

From the results of the data collection, of the 30 vehicles inspected, 20 of them did not meet the licensing administration aspect, nine buses did not meet the technical requirements for roadworthy, and two buses had fake licensing documents.

Risyapudin said that every citizen can independently check the condition of the tourism bus by accessing the MitraDarat application which can be uploaded/downloaded through the Playstore/appstore.

Through the MitraDarat application, Risyapudin continued, the public can find out the condition of the tourism bus that will be used whether it is licensed or not and is roadworthy or not so that it can help minimize the potential for road traffic accidents.

"Regarding this illegal pool, we will summon the owner of the bus PO vehicle for clarification," he explained.

The Directorate General of Land Transportation collaborates with other stakeholders to continue their efforts in supervising, checking, and enforcing the law on tourism transportation as well as socializing all drivers and passengers to create safe, comfortable, orderly, and safe tourism transportation.

In the tourism transportation monitoring activity, the Directorate General of Land Transportation together with the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Center (BPTJ), the Indonesian Police, the Military Police, and accompanied by the Tangerang City Transportation Service took action against vehicles that did not meet the travel requirements.
