JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade has granted a copper concentrate export permit to PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) until December 31, 2024.

The export license is based on the recommendation of an export agreement letter issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) with a copper concentrate export quota of 587,330 wmt (wet metric tons) or the equivalent of 534,000 dmt (dry metric tons).

"The quota is in accordance with the submission submitted in the 2024 Work Plan and Budget (RKAB)," said AMNT President Director Rachmat Makkasau as reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 26.

He expressed his gratitude for the government's support in the form of issuing the export license for the copper concentrate.

Rachmat said the export license would strengthen the company's financial condition, which is currently spending on various expansion projects in order to support smelter operations.

He added that the issuance of the export permit was also proof of the progress of the copper smelter project built by PT Amman Mineral Industri (AMIN) in accordance with the government's target.

Based on the results of independent third party verification, said Rachmat, the AMMAN copper smelter project has achieved mechanical completion as of May 31, 2024.

"The forward smelter has reached 95.5 percent. The commissioning process for the main smelter facility will take place soon after. The production of the first copper cathode is targeted in the fourth quarter of 2024," said Rachmat.

Rachmat said the AMMAN copper smelter facility has a total input capacity of up to 900 kilo tons per year (ktpa) concentrate of the Green Stone and Eagle mine mines in the future.

"The products from this purification will be in the form of copper cathodes which reach 222 ktpa, around 18 tons of gold, 55 tons of silver, and around 830.000 tons of sulfate acid per year," said Rachmat.
