JAKARTA - PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), one of the business units of the MMS Group Indonesia (MSGI) has a commitment to carry out operational activities that are harmonious with the environment so that it has a direct impact on the community.

One of the efforts carried out for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiated by MHU and MMSGI through a hydram pump project with the theme Reviving Hope: From Mining Void To A Clean Water to provide clean water sources in East Kalimantan selected to enter the top ten in the SDG Innovation Accelerator For Young Professionals 2024 event.

The event, which was held at the Grand Ballroom of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Thursday, July 25, was attended by Dr. Vivi Yulawati as Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources, Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia/Bappenas National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Dr. Mego Pinandito, Deputy Chairman for Development Policy BRIN, Josephine Satyono Executive Director of Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN) and Gita Sabharwal from the UN Resident Coordinator Indonesia.

The selection of MHU and MMSGI hydram projects into the 2024 SDGI Innovation Accelerator Grand Final cannot be separated from the suitability of the innovation program in encouraging the Sustainable Program Goals agenda. Among them are the relevance of solutions, the impact of sustainable programs on communities and commitments and willingnesss.

"The implementation of SDGI aims to improve the ability and sharpness of the businesses of young professionals in solving problems and developing products or services that answer global challenges. This not only provides benefits for the companies they work for but also all stakeholders including the community around the company's operations," said Josephine Satyono as Executive Director of IGCN.

This hydram pump project not only provides practical solutions to overcome the problem of the availability of clean water in post-mining areas, but also empowers local communities through simple and sustainable technology. Post-mining Voids (colams) have been transformed into clean water sources so that they provide direct benefits to more than 2,000 residents in three villages in East Kalimantan.

Through this initiative, MHU and MMSGI succeeded in turning environmental challenges into opportunities for sustainable development. The Himalm technology used is environmentally friendly and cost-effective technology, enabling the distribution of clean water without requiring electricity or fuel. This guarantees the sustainability of access to clean water to the community in the long term.

Meanwhile, MMSGI CEO Sendy Greti expressed his pride for his achievements at the SDG Innovation Accelerator For Young Professionals 2024 in his first participation.

SDG Innovation Accelerator For Young Professionals 2024 was attended by a total of 16 teams from 15 companies that are members and sub-members of the IGCN. Each team consists of young talents representing various types of companies and industries from both SOEs and the private sector who take part in the sustainability program.
