JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) officially launched the 2024 Indonesian Construction (KI). This event is a form of appreciation for the contribution of the community to construction services as well as the medium for exchanging information between construction stakeholders.

Director General (Dirjen) of Construction Development of the Ministry of PUPR Abdul Muis said infrastructure development is the main instrument to catch up towards Indonesia Gold 2045. Therefore, infrastructure development has become a priority for the government in the last 10 years.

"Infrastructure development has become the government's priority axis in the last 10 years and has resulted in massive development to encourage increased national competitiveness," said Abdul Muis at the Indonesian Construction Launching at the PUPR Ministry Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 23.

This is evident from Indonesia, which has succeeded in becoming the country with the highest competitiveness ranking in the world. Based on research from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Indonesia is ranked 27th out of 67 countries.

"I can say that Indonesia is the country with the highest increase in competitiveness rankings in the world, which in 2024 the national competitiveness of Indonesia will be ranked 27th in the world, up 7th in the ranking compared to 2023," he said.

"So, Indonesia is in the top 3 in the Southeast Asia region (ASEAN) after Singapore and Thailand. Thailand is ranked 25th," he continued.

As for 2024, the government has set a national infrastructure budget of IDR 423.4 trillion or 12.73 percent of the total State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN), which is IDR 3,325.1 trillion.

From the national infrastructure budget, the Ministry of PUPR received a budget allocation of Rp. 146.98 trillion or 34.7 percent.

Abdul Muis assessed that the magnitude of the national infrastructure budget must of course be accompanied by accountability and fairness and followed by an increase in the readiness of the entire supply chain of the construction industry.

"Such as construction workers, construction service business entities as well as materials and construction equipment, both in terms of quality and quantity," he said.

According to him, in order to be in line with the infrastructure development acceleration program, the agility and ability to adapt from all components and industry players of construction services are the main keys to achieving the success and sustainability of construction services in the present and future.

Furthermore, the construction service industry must be agile in responding to changes quickly and effectively, able to adapt to technological developments, changes in regulations and market dynamics.

"With agitity, we can identify new opportunities in overcoming obstacles and remaining competitive in the midst of competition which will certainly be even tighter," he said.

Therefore, the 2024 Indonesia Construction which will be held on November 6-8, 2024 at ICE BSD, Tangerang, is here as a form of support for the growth and development of construction services to create business opportunities and become a booster for construction service schools.

Later, this event will carry the theme of agility and adaptability in the competitive construction sector. The hope is that the community of construction services can continue to grow together in the face of global challenges and competition.

"I am sure that by adopting an agility and adaptability culture, we will be able to achieve a better future of the construction industry," he added.
