Fast Trains Called Can Save Fuel Use Of IDR 3.2 Trillion Per Year

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) not only cut travel times, but also save fuel of IDR 3.2 trillion per year. Quoted from his official personal Instagram account in Jakarta, Sunday, Erick said that KCJB which has been operating since October 2023 has provided many benefits for the people of Indonesia. "Not only did it cut travel times, but also use more efficient energy. By using electrical energy, the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train can save fuel of IDR 3.2 trillion per year," Erick said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, July 21. KCJB has also brought four million passengers until early July 2024. According to Erick, this figure shows the level of public confidence and enthusiasm for the first high-speed train in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, Erick conveyed that the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train could also encourage tourist numbers and increase economic growth in the region.

"The Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train has contributed Rp86.5 trillion to Jakarta and West Java's gross regional domestic product (GDP) in 2019-2023," said Erick. With a speed designed at 350 kilometers per hour, halim Station in Jakarta with Tegalluar Station in Bandung, West Java Province, the fourth largest city in Indonesia, and cut travel time between the two cities from more than three hours to only about 40 minutes.
