Clean Water Trial in IKN Not Yet Completed, Rushed to Finish This Month

JAKARTA - Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Danis Sumadilaga said that currently the commissioning or clean water trial activities in the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) are still ongoing.

"It is still in the commissioning process which God willing will be completed in the next few days," Danis told VOI, Tuesday, July 16.

Danis did not state clearly when the commissioning process would be completed. However, he ensured that clean water in the IKN would be available in July. "(Clean water in the IKN will be available) in July," he said.

Previously, Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Planning Task Force of the PUPR Ministry Imam Santoso Ernawi admitted that the readiness of clean water in the IKN was indeed a little late. He said that currently, clean water is in the trial or commissioning stage.

"This drinking water is now in the test and commissioning process too, although it is still in stage one. We are testing and commissioning up to stage 3, which stage 3 will be completed around 17 (July)," he said.

According to him, the PUPR Ministry has continued to ask the party working on the clean water project. However, said Imam, the work was indeed somewhat disrupted due to the continuous rain in the IKN.

"With the plan (ceremony) on the 17th, we asked, come on, when will the drinking water be finished? From the beginning, they said 18th (July) actually, that would be the best. Then, we tried to press, sorry, we pressed, for example, could it be on the 10th or even 8th (July) at that time, yes. With a heavy heart (they) said, yes, we will try, sir," explained Imam.

"It turns out, right, in the implementation yesterday, if we saw, yes, the rain almost didn't stop there, it was forced to be postponed. So, the commissioning test was also postponed," he added.

The unavailability of clean water in the IKN has also caused President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to cancel his office in the IKN starting this month.
