JAKARTA - Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) from the Java Subholding Upstream Pertamina Region seeks to optimize the potential for domestic oil and gas reserves.
One strategy to increase production, PHE ONWJ will reactivate the LES platform.
The LES platform, located off the coast of 25 Kilometers from Cilamaya, Karawang Regency, is estimated to store oil potential of 0.34 Million Stock Tank Barrels (MMSTB) and 24.23 Billion Standard Cubic Feet (BSCF) for gas.
"Currently, the LES field development optimization project and the reactivation of the LESA platform are already underway and will be completed by the end of 2025. The drilling process will begin as soon as possible after the LES field development optimization project," said PHE ONWJ General Manager, Muzwir Wiratama, Monday 15 July.
Muzwir explained that the LES Field was first discovered in 1994 through the LESA-1 exploration well. The LESA platform started production in 2001 with production performances of up to 3.5 MMSCFD through 3 (three) active wells.
Three existing wells will be reactivated after previously being deactivated in November 2017.

In addition to the reactivation of 3 existing wells, PHE ONWJ will continue to add to the drilling of 2 new development wells in this project.
"Of the 5 wells that will be managed, it is estimated that they will be able to increase the national production achievement by 14.7 MMSCFD for gas and condensate by 139.3 Barrel Condensate Per Day (BCPD)," he concluded.
