Providing Prima Services, ASDP Implements Zoning At Merak-Bakauheni Port

JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) remains consistent in implementing zoning policies within the Ports of Merak, Banten, and Bakauheni, Lampung, in order to improve aspects of safety and services.

"In accordance with government regulations, the implementation of zoning or sterilization policies is a form of ASDP's commitment and consistency in improving safety, security, and service convenience for service users," said ASDP Corporate Secretary Shelvy Arifin as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 11.

Shelvy said that this was done together with relevant regulators, namely the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) and other supporting partners as effective implementations of Law (UU) Number 17 of 2008 concerning the first Part of the Chapter VII Shipping related to the Port Order and Government Regulation PM Number 91 of 2021 concerning Zoning in Port Areas Used to Serve Crossing Transportation.

The port zoning divides the port area into several zones with limited access.

Separation is carried out to separate interested parties from those without interest.

Uninterested parties, continued Shelvy, must be sterilized from port areas including piers in order to maintain port security and operations.

This zoning policy also aims to improve security and order.

"In this case, ASDP also coordinates with related parties such as the Police and the TNI to ensure security in the field. This policy is expected to help facilitate the flow of vehicles and passengers in the port area," he said.

He said the implementation of the sterilization policy at Bakauheni Port which was in accordance with the regulatory mandate had been carried out for approximately two months.

ASDP has also carried out socialization and coordination as well as received support from the South Lampung Police, Lampung BPTD II, Bakauheni KSOP, Gapasdap DPC, and the local INFA DPC to ensure that the implementation in the field runs smoothly and under control.

In improving zoning governance, ASDP will implement planned strategies and implementations to improve the situation significantly.

This includes handling vehicles and logistics, passenger services, as well as movement and flow of vehicles inside the port.

In addition, infrastructure improvements are modernization and improvement of supporting infrastructure, such as roads and signs to ensure smooth and efficient movement within the port.

This will support the operational efficiency and convenience of service users.

"We really appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all parties regarding the implementation of this policy in accordance with the mandate of the law and for the creation of crossing services for all service users who are orderly, safe, smooth and secure," he said.

Shelvy added that in line with the port sterilization policy, ASDP is also consistent in providing safe, comfortable, and free crossing services from broker practices through the "Say No to Calo" program which will take effect, Monday, July 1 in four main ASDP branches, namely Merak Port, Bakauheni Port, Ketapang Port, and Gilimanuk Port.

ASDP also improves patrols at ports and implements a geofencing system that ensures ticket purchases can only be made through official counters and the Ferizy application.

"Only passengers with official tickets can enter the port area, thanks to the strict filtering at the entrance," said Shelvy as well.

ASDP also makes it easier to purchase tickets through online ticket service Ferizy because currently there are no more ticket sales at the port. Ferry ticket reservations can be made up to 60 days before departure.

"With a strong commitment from ASDP and active participation from service users, let's together create a port that is free of brokers, safe, and comfortable for all," said Shelvy.

Meanwhile, GM ASDP Bakauheni Branch Rudi Sunarko said, in order to maintain the consistency of the sterilization policy, his party requested the strengthening of additional security personnel from the TNI/Polri.

In addition, monitoring cameras or CCTV will be installed as well as accommodation for truck managers in the waiting room of the regular terminal crossing located in the terminal area of Bakauheni Port bus.

"Of course, this zone is categorized as the A-1 Zone, where non-crossing service users are allowed to be in the area according to the prevailing PM regulations. So, it is not in the prohibited zone," said Rudi.
