Commemorating Environment Day 2024, GBU Holds Environmentally Introspective Mining Seminars

JAKARTA - Commemorating Environment Day (HLH) 2024, PT Gunung Bara Utama (GBU) held a seminar at the Grand Family Barong Tongkok Hotel Ballroom, West Kutai, Friday, July 5.

In this seminar, PT GBU carries the theme Implementation of Environmentally-Intentioned Mining Operations Activities, by presenting several speakers from the ministry and the local government. Some of the speakers present included the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM) Inspector Andi Luthfi, Environmental Supervisory Officer (PPLH) of the West Kutai Regency (Kubar) Office, Ery Sulastyo, and Temporary Official Head of GRU Mining Engineering Adi Rachmani.

One of the points discussed in this discussion is PT GBU together with related agencies emphasizing the importance of environmental management of mining operational activities according to good mining rules (Good Mining Practice) referring to the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 1827 of 2018 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Good Mining Engineering Kaidah, as well as Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia (PP) No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management.

Temporary Official Head of GBU Mining Engineering Adi Rachmani said good mining governance must pay attention to the environment around which is in line with government programs that require mining companies to be responsible for maintaining environmental sustainability in operational areas.

"We believe that with commitment and cooperation from all parties, we can realize sustainable and sustainable environmental management in the future," said Adi, in a written statement, Wednesday, July 10. This seminar activity was also attended by employees and ranks from the management of GBU and representatives of partners in the GBU operating area. Interactive dialogue and questions about environmental issues in the mining world are an opportunity for all seminar participants who attend to increase knowledge to be applied by all parties.

The seminar held by the GBU is the final agenda of several series of activities carrying the slogan 'Our Land, our Future, We are #GenerationRestoration' which is in line with the global theme "Land Restortion, Waste, and Resilience Against Drought."

The commemoration of the 2024 HLH GBU begins with the opening ceremony at the 002 State Elementary School, Damai District, West Kutai, tree planting, as well as several competitions ranging from badminton competitions, creative photos and content competitions about the environment, environmentally careful smart competitions, and GBU Green's Improvement to capture innovations related to environmental management.
