Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Says That The RPP Harmonization Of National Energy Policy Has Been Completed

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif who also serves as Daily Chair of the National Energy Council revealed that the harmonization of the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) on National Energy Policy has been completed.

"The RPP KEN harmonization has been completed," said Arifin while attending a working meeting with Commission VII DPR RI, Monday, July 8.

Arifin said that the Ministry of Law and Human Rights through Letter Number PPE.PP.03.03-1186 dated June 4, 2024, had submitted RPP KEN to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for further processing.

Following up on the letter, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources then wrote to Commission VII on June 5, 2024 in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of State Secretariat.

Then on June 25, 2024, he has reported the results of harmonization to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as Chairman of the DEN.

"And the proposal to submit RPP KEN to the DPR RI to get approval before it is determined by the government," continued Arifin.

As for 2023 to 2024, three focus group discussions (FGD) have been carried out with Commission VII regarding National Energy Policy. Thus, continued Arifin, the government hopes that the DPR will approve the Draft Government Regulation (RPP) on National Energy Policy.

"The approval of the DPR RI is expected to be in July 2024, then the RPP KEN will be determined by the Government," said Arifin.

For information, previously, the Government through the National Energy Council (DEN) planned to revise the target of the new and renewable energy mix (EBT) by 2025 to 17 to 19 percent of the previous target of 23 percent through the renewal of the National Energy Policy (KEN).

Then the DEN also prepared PP Renewal Number 79 of 2014 concerning National Energy Policy which adapts to strategic environmental changes that are in line with climate change commitments and accommodate energy transition efforts towards carbon neutral 2060.
