The Ministry Of Transportation Targets The Jakarta LRT Phase 1B To Be Completed In The Third Quarter Of 2026

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Railways targets the extension of the Jakarta LRT route to Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai to be completed in the next two years or 2026.

Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal said that the progress of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai construction was relatively smooth so it did not miss the set target.

"We are optimistic that this project can be completed soon and operated in early 2027. We hope that in the third quarter of 2026 it can be enjoyed by the public," said Risal in an official statement, Wednesday, June 26.

Furthermore, Risal said that until the second week of June 2024, the work of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai had reached 18.147 percent.

Later, Risal continued, the Jakarta LRT will be operated with a break time of 10 minutes. With this extension, the potential for passenger demand has gradually increased to 80,000 per day for the Velodrome-Manggarai crossing.

In order to maximize the occupancy of the Jakarta LRT, KTa Risal, in the future Phase 2A will also be developed with the Kelapa Gading-JIS, 1C Manggarai-Dukuh Atas, 1D Dukuh Atas-Pesing, as well as the 3A and 3B routes, which will complement the Kemayoran-JIS-Kelapa Gading-Velodrome-Klender-Halim routes, respectively.

"We continue to encourage economic centers and community activities to be served properly by public transportation modes, especially rail transportation modes, so that people can carry out activities more easily, safely, quickly, and comfortably," concluded Risal.
