BRI's Deposit To Capai Country IDR 192.06 Trillion Since 2019

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) noted that the amount of deposits to the state treasury exceeded a total of IDR 192.06 trillion from 2019 to the first quarter of 2024.

Quoting Antara, BRI detailed that deposits in 2019 alone reached IDR 26.56 trillion. Then IDR 28.38 trillion in 2020, IDR 27.09 trillion in 2021, IDR 34.18 trillion in 2022, and IDR 45.34 trillion in 2023.

Meanwhile, in the first three months of 2024, BRI has deposited IDR 31.03 trillion into the state treasury.

This deposit, recorded by the company, comes from payment of Income Tax, Value & Bea Materai Added Tax, Income Tax, Dividend and Regional Tax.

BRI President Director Sunarso emphasized that BRI as a state-owned company has a role as an agent for value creators and agents of development. In order to carry out this function simultaneously, BRI must make a profit.

As a 'bank of the people', Sunarso noted, the profits made by BRI will eventually return to the state as a majority shareholder which will then be used for the benefit of the Indonesian people through various government programs.

"By gaining an economic value, state-owned companies can have the capital to create social value so that the economy will rotate. And BRI has proven that so far it can carry out the role of simultaneous economic value and social value," said Sunarso.

Previously, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir through his Instagram account revealed that 15 state-owned companies recorded a total net profit of IDR 319.28 trillion in 2023.

Meanwhile, BRI last year recorded a profit of IDR 60.4 trillion or equivalent to 19 percent of the total profit of 15 SOEs mentioned by Erick Thohir.

Regarding this achievement, Erick appreciated the dozens of SOEs with jumbo profits that could still contribute positively to the country amid global economic challenges.

"This achievement is thanks to the hard work and collaboration of all levels of commissioners, directors, and SOE personnel," said Erick.
