JAKARTA - Pertamina's subsidiary in the hotel sector Patra Jasa is committed to implementing a waste management program in the hotel environment it manages. It is noted that 82 percent of waste manages independently.
Pjs. VP Corporate Secretary Patra Jasa Rina Martha said that with this waste management program, it is targeted that for the next 5 years it can reduce the disposal of operational waste into landfills or landfills, pilot projects as a pilot at the Patra Bandung Hotel.
"Patra Bandung Hotel is the role model for accelerating zero waste to landfills chosen by the Bandung City Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK), until April 2024 Patra Bandung Hotel has recorded 82 percent managed and left only 18 percent of the residue to landfill from January to April 2024," he said in an official statement, Sunday, June 16.
From the waste management program, continued Rina, there was a significant increase in independent waste management from 2023 which reached 78 percent with a total waste production of 27,078 kg for a year.
"Organic waste consists of food remains at the Restaurant and Kitchen of the Patra Jasa hotel which are then processed using the breaking method using a maggot (bsf plate) where the results can be used as fertilizer or garden media," he explained.
Meanwhile, fruit skin waste and fruit remains are processed into fertilizer using the method Eco enzyme and Mol. For outdoor waste, it will be put into a composite barrel which is then decomposed into compost.
Meanwhile, inorganic waste will be sorted into 3 namely reuse, recycle and residue. For recycle waste will be sold to garbage collectors, reuse waste such as slipper, shampooo and bathfoam will be reused after the selection stage is carried out and residual waste will be thrown into the TPA through third parties who have been registered with the Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK).
