The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Leaks Government's Steps On Acquisition Of Bioethenol From Brazil

JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Dadan Kusdiana revealed the government's further plan after assigning an assignment to PT Pertamina (Persero) to acquire a bioethenol supply company from Brazil.

Dadan said this step was taken by the government to develop the ethanol market in Indonesia which would later be used as a substitute for domestic fuel.

"It's a temporary step so that we can walk, so that the market can grow domestically," Dadan told the media quoted on Saturday, June 15.

Dadan also said that later with this acquisition, the government wants to be able to implement ethanol from upstream to downstream in the country, including production from initial cultivation to utilization.

"The government wants production from the beginning to be planted in us, we will use it to process it in us. Because if it comes from outside, the emissions are burned here but the emission reduction is there," continued Dadan.

Dadan said that the government is currently pushing for the issuance of a Presidential Decree regarding the development of sugar and bioethenol in Papua.

"Yes, we encourage together, right? There is also a Presidential Decree that has gone out for sugar and bioethenol in Papua," explained Dadan.

Dadan further said that actually the development of bioethenol as a substitute for raw materials has long been a government plan, but until now, the supply availability factor is currently considered limited.

"Because the supply problem is not smooth, in the sense that the amount is also not significant, but we will start from what is now, in the future we do not see Pertalite or Pertamax, everything that exists for gasoline is mixed. Just like biodiesel," he concluded.
