JAKARTA - The People's Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) has opened its voice regarding a proposal from one of the Indonesian Ombudsman members who said it was to expand the coverage of Tapera beneficiaries.
BP Tapera Commissioner, Heru Pudyo Nugroho said by expanding the scope of the definition of low-income people (MBR) in the People's Housing Savings (Tapera) program to Rp12 million, so that all levels of society can enjoy all the benefits of the Tapera program to get subsidized housing.
"That's part of the evaluation, because if the criteria for MBR are up to Rp. 8 million, of course, with people who currently have an income of more than Rp. 8 million, they cannot receive benefits, so it is relevant if the MBR limit can be increased to Rp. 12 million," he told VOI, Friday, June 14.
Therefore, Heru expressed his acceptance of the proposal and will be considered in the future to expand the coverage of the definition of MBR in the Tapera program to Rp12 million.
Heru hopes that in the future through Tapera, participants, apart from obtaining housing financing facilities at low (interest) costs, at the end of the participants also get a return on savings along with investment benefits for all levels of society.
"Hopefully the beneficiaries of the Tapera program are good for house ownership, house renovation, and building houses so that they can reach many levels of society," he explained.

Previously, member of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia Yeka Hendra Fatika proposed that the coverage of the definition of MBR in the Tapera program, which was initially a maximum of IDR 8 million, be increased to IDR 12 million.
Yeka said that the expansion of the MBR category was to attract the participation of the Tapera program.
This is in line with the target of the Tapera program considering the purpose of this program is to improve people's welfare.
"Even if you want to get a greater reach, the definition of low-income people must be increased. Not another Rp8 million, so that the coverage can become broad," he said.
