Jokowi: Achievement Of 2.84 Percent Inflation Rate In May Of The World's Best

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the inflation rate in Indonesia as of May 2024 at 2.84 percent was one of the best achievements in the world.

This statement was made by President Jokowi when opening the 2024 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Inflation Control at the Jakarta State Palace Building, Friday, June 14.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the inflation control team that has worked hard, so that the last one in May of our inflation was at 2.84 percent. This is one of the best in the world," he said.

According to Jokowi, the current inflation situation is relatively better than the conditions ten years ago in Indonesia which was at 9.6 percent.

The President reminded all regional policy makers to see inflation as an important issue that needs attention.

Jokowi appreciated the work of the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian for opening an inflation information system in all regions in Indonesia.

"I know, every week by the Minister of Home Affairs the inflation is one by one, it is clearly opened what the numbers are, in this province, in this district, in this city, so everyone knows," he said.

In addition, in every opportunity for a working visit to various regions, President Jokowi also often checks the inflation situation in the local area.

"Every time I go to the regions, what do I ask now is how much inflation, how much economic growth is the Regent, the Mayor? I always ask that so that we all care about very important things," he said.

Jokowi added that the national economic situation was in a fresh condition, with an inflation rate of 2.84 percent and economic growth of 5.11 percent.

"It's fresh if it's like this, but we have to stay alert, be careful not to be careless, the challenges ahead are not easy," he said.
