JAKARTA - Bittime, a crypto asset investment platform that is officially registered in Indonesia, is collaborating with Pelita Harapan University (UPH), the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), the BlockDevid developer community, and the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (CoFTRA) in increasing literacy about blockchain for Indonesia's young generation.

Through a seminar titled Blockchain 101: Challenges & Opportunities, this event was successfully attended by more than 500 participants. This seminar discusses blockchain technology, ranging from implementation, challenges in development, to industry-related regulations themselves.

UPH School of Business and Technology Executive Dean Dra. Gracia Shinta Ugut, MBA, Ph.d said in his remarks that this event was one of UPH's efforts to bring updates regarding what is happening in today's industry.

This opportunity is a rare opportunity. This is our effort to bring the latest issues related to blockchain technology to students," he said, quoted on Thursday, June 13.

Head of the CoFTRA Futures Trading Development and Development Bureau, CoFTRA, Tirta Karma Senjaya, in his remarks revealed that blockchain technology is still wide and has not been fully explored, especially in Indonesia. He explained that currently, CoFTRA has only regulated the trading realm of crypto assets, which is only one of the downstream products of blockchain technology.

This is an opportunity for the government to jointly continue to develop blockchain technology adoption as well as the implementative development of Blockchain-related regulations. The development going forward is still a lot, like how to create the reach of this blockchain technology. So it's not just focused on trading crypto assets," he explained.

The event was moderated by the Dean of the UPH Faculty of Computer Sciences, Dr. Andree Emmanuel Widjaja. Panelists presented include Bittime's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) - Immanuel Giras Pasopati, Block DEVID - William Sutanto Founder, and Member of the ABI Ethics Committee - Duwi Sudarto Putra.

Bittime CMO, Immanuel Giras Pasopati said blockchain technology has been widely implemented in various industries. As a crypto asset investment platform, Bittime itself is one of the spearheads of the use of blockchain technology that is widely used by the public.

Crypto exchange is a form of end user product from blockchain. Where crypto exchange connects various blockchain projects that have tokens to be enjoyed by the public," he said.

In addition, Giras said that crypto exchanges also implement blockchain technology through platform tokens. As is known, platform tokens are one of the crypto assets developed through blockchain for use in the crypto exchange platform ecosystem.

One example we do, Bittime develops Palapa tokens. Palapa as a platform token will play a lot of roles in supporting the Bittime ecosystem. With useful utilities for Bittime users who have Palapa tokens, "he explained.

BlockDevelid founder William Sutanto explained that simply put, blockchain is a manifestation of the database system, which ensures its security and transparency. Unlike the database system that we know in general, blockchain management implements decentralized technology that can be accessed by many parties.

"In history, crypto assets through blockchain were created to answer problems that the Web 2.0 industry has not been able to solve so far. Like DeFi, crypto is a form of application of blockchain to the financial industry," added William.

The development of blockchain technology is not limited to assets and investment, but also plays a role in other industries. For example, the use of the metaverse in the hotel and tourism industry, to the application of dArray in the field of accounting.

Member of the Ethics Committee of the Indonesian Blockchain Association, Duwi Sudarto Putra, said that the role of the government from supervision to development of blockchain technology is very important and needs to be considered.

"Hopefully, we can also use blockchain technology in managing public data, considering that the level of data security on blockchain is safer," Duwi added.

As the event initiator, Bittime hopes that the people of Indonesia, especially the younger generation, can be more familiar with blockchain technology and its implementation. Not only that, but Bittime also plans to hold a fund assistance program for students through the Palapa token development roadmap.
