Jokowi: Only Electric Vehicles Can Pass At IKN

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that environmentally friendly green energy will be the main energy source in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

In fact, he stated that vehicles with fuel oil (BBM) were prohibited from crossing IKN.

He emphasized that vehicles with combustion or combustion engines should not operate in IKN.

Instead, only electric vehicles with green energy can operate at IKN.

"Combustion vehicles are not allowed (to operate at IKN), only electric vehicles (EV) are allowed," said Jokowi during the groundbreaking of the BTN Office at IKN, Wednesday, June 5.

Jokowi added that only environmentally friendly green energy can be used at IKN. According to him, the archipelago was built with the concept of being the greenest capital city in the world.

"Because the use of energy here is also allowed to be green energy. This is the concept of Nusantara in the future," he said.

The Head of State also briefly compared the air quality in several cities in the world, from Jakarta, Singapore, Melbourne to Paris.

As a result, currently Jakarta, which is the capital city of Indonesia, has the worst air quality, with an index of 176.

Whereas in Singapore only 44, Melbourne 38 and Paris 38. The standard air quality is in the 0-50 position.

According to Jokowi, later when the capital city moves to the archipelago in East Kalimantan, the air quality index is considered better than Jakarta.

"In Jakarta, it is far from that standard, I don't think Jakarta is Jakarta but Jabodetabek. And in the archipelago it has not been measured, I want to wait. It has not been measured but I believe it will definitely be around 20," he said.
