JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian National Construction Implementers (GAPENSI), as the oldest construction organization in Indonesia, made an important visit to Vice President KH. Ma'ruf Amin to discuss the current condition of the national construction industry, on Friday, May 31. This meeting was attended by the Secretary General of BPP GAPENSI, Andi Rukman Nurdin (ARN), who is currently also the Candidate for Chairman of the BPP GAPENSI, along with a number of BPP GAPENSI administrators.

The visit received appreciation from Vice President KH. Ma'ruf Amin, who welcomed GAPENSI's commitment. He hopes that the synergy between the government and GAPENSI can continue to be improved to support infrastructure development.

During the meeting, ARN expressed concern regarding the significant decrease in the number of Construction Services Business Entities (BUJK) since the enactment of Law no. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.

"Before the pandemic, the number of BUJK was recorded at 1,500, but now there are only 75,809 left. This is due to various factors, including difficulties in obtaining permits and limited job opportunities for small and medium enterprises," said ARN.

This audience also discussed the current construction conditions and the implementation of the National Conference to XV BPP GAPENSI which will be held on June 5-7 at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta. On that occasion, GAPENSI hoped that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin could officially open the National Conference.

ARN also highlighted a number of challenges faced by small and medium-sized BUJKs, such as difficulty obtaining permits that have resulted in limited distribution of construction service providers in cities/districts, decreased number of small-scale project packages, and consolidation of large projects that can only be carried out by large business entities, especially SOEs.

In the sidelines of discussing the current state of national construction, ARN wisely stated to the Vice President that he is running as a Candidate for the General Chair of the GAPENSI BPP and with a firm attitude will be ready to work together to oversee the government of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

"GAPENSI is committed to continuing to convey various problems in the field of construction services to the government, disseminating government policies to GAPENSI members throughout Indonesia, as well as empowering BUJK members of GAPENSI," concluded ARN.
