JAKARTA - PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Refinery Unit IV Cilacap carried out the first lifting of exports of low-Sulphur fuel products or Marine Fuel Oil Low Sulphur (MFLOS) with Singapore destination countries.
The inaugural lifting of exports of MFOLS products from the Cilacap Refinery area to the tanker that docked at PT KPI RU IV Cilacap Pier was led virtually by the General Manager (GM) of PT KPI RU IV Edy Main January accompanied by Temporary Official (Pjs) Vice President (VP) Refinery Planning and Optimization (RPO) PT KPI Hendri Agustian and the management of the Cilacap Refinery from the Patra Graha Building, Cilacap, Central Java, Wednesday 29 May.

"This inaugural export indicates that PT KPI Refinery Unit IV is capable of producing a compact MFO Low Sulphur (compliant, ed.) IMO," he said, as reported by Antara.
Thus, he said, MFOLS is a world-class certified product.
He admitted that so far, the Cilacap Refinery has produced MFOLS on a small scale to meet domestic needs, namely for bunkering activities for visiting ships and docking at PT KPI RU IV Cilacap Pier.
"Well, today we are starting to produce on a larger scale and capacity, so that we can make our first exports today," he said.
He said the production capacity of MFOLS products at the Cilacap Refinery is in the range of 200,000-400,000 barrels per month, while the volume of MFOLS exported for the first time to Singapore is 200 metric barrels.
According to him, MFOLS products are called environmentally friendly because they are seen from their lower SOx emission factors than MFO High Sulphur.
"We also have several products, such as if the sulfur component is higher, then this must beIfted or sold as an unvalued product," he said.
Asked about other countries that are the export destinations for MFOLS products in the future, Edy said that the fuel for the low- sulfur ship will be streamed according to its needs.

Meanwhile, Acting VP RPO PT KPI Hendri Agustian said the new product in the form of MFOLS would be able to increase value for the company because of its better selling price.
In addition, he said, the MFOLS product is actually a kind of commitment from PT KPI related to the company's fulfillment of Net Zero Emissions by 2060.
"Indeed, there are two pillars. The first pillar is that later we will strengthen the existing business, one of which was earlier, we are developing our operations by producing products that previously generated quite large emissions, now we can press it, and later if necessary, we will go to new green business," he said.
