JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will cooperate with Finland to develop smart city toll road technology in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

PUPR Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, said the potential for cooperation had been discussed in a bilateral meeting with Finnish Minister of Foreign Development and Trade Cooperation, Ville Tavio, at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

One of the technologies that will be implemented is a smart intelligence sign for the Balikpapan-IKN toll road.

"We will carry out a pilot project for this toll road system on the Balikpapan-IKN toll road. If the results are good after that, we can improve the implementation," Basuki said in a written statement, quoted Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Basuki added that his party also plans to implement a smart system in IKN. The Ministry of PUPR is also considering a smart building system advisor from Finland.

"IKN is designed for the future. Therefore, we will use a smart system. We need an advisor from Finland because it has high technology. If Finland can do it, I'm sure Indonesia can do it too," he said.

Meanwhile, Finnish Minister of Foreign Development and Trade Cooperation, Ville Tavio, said the meeting that had been held yesterday was expected to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Finland in the future.

"I hope that through this meeting, we can strengthen collaboration in the future," he added.
