JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) revealed the economic potential of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) High-Level Conference (KTT) delegates in Bali.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said, referring to previous international events, the average expenditure from visits by delegates in Indonesia reached Rp. 30 million.

He estimates that around 50,000 participants will participate in the 10th World Water Forum which will last for 18-25 May 2024. This means that Sandiaga predicts that the total expenditure of the largest water forum delegates in the world will reach around IDR 1.5 trillion.

"The total number of delegates (WWF) reached 20,000 (people), but in total with entourage and companions it could reach 50,000 out of almost 170 countries that came to Bali," said Menparekraf Sandiaga in The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno quoted Tuesday, May 21.

"And from the amount of spending per delegation which refers to such events, it is around Rp. 30 million. Therefore, we can predict Rp. 1.5 trillion for direct spending on the economy of Bali and Indonesia with this WWF," he continued.

The minister, who is often called Sandi, hopes that the World Water Forum will remain the center of world attention so that it can have a positive impact on the Indonesian tourism sector.

"So, we hope that WWF will continue to be the center of world attention, where there are 1,800 daily searches and this is a large number from abroad, outside Indonesia. And in the past week there have been 190 global and national news stories, this has encouraged the holding of Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) in a sustainable manner," he said.

"And we have just inaugurated the Fair and Expo WWF 20-25 May 2024 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center and cover several MSMEs involved," he added.

It is known, the World Water Council as a world institution that deals with water issues chose Indonesia as the host of the 10th World Water Forum in 2024.

This activity will take place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Nusa Dua, Bali, on May 18-25, 2024.

Later, there will be three discussions in the 10th World Water Forum, namely three topics on thematic, political and regional issues.
