JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) encourages PT KAI (Persero) to continue to optimize the use of subsidized fuel allocation (BBM), which is provided by the government.

Member of the BPH Migas Committee Abdul Halim in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday, May 16, said that his party continues to oversee the distribution of subsidized fuel for special rail transportation, which provides great benefits to the community.

BPH Migas also appreciated PT KAI's efforts to utilize diesel fuel to support the mobility of people in the country.

"Judging from the good absorption of quotas in 2023, we hope that in 2024, KAI can provide benefits to the community and continue to grow, in line with the previous year," Halim said during a field visit at the KAI Daop 2 Locomotive Depo, Bandung, West Java, quoted from Antara.

He added that the right calculation and minimized the misuse of subsidized fuel on trains was the first step for PT KAI in prioritizing the best service to the public.

"We hope that KAI will continue to increase synergy with the government and business entities that distribute fuel so as not to cause obstacles," he said.

Halim also underlined that the allocation of subsidized fuel must prioritize the interests of the community, one of which is public transportation such as trains.

"We can categorize the use of subsidized fuel for trains on target," said Halim.

Meanwhile, PT KAI (Persero) Vice President of Material Stock Fajar Alam said that the implementation of reconciliation in the distribution of subsidized fuel for the special rail transportation sector is always carried out with related parties.

"We have carried out reconciliation together with BPH Migas and PT Pertamina, quantitatively there are no findings," he said.

Fajar added that the provision of the quota was used as optimally as possible to support public transportation needs, so that the subsidized fuel quota that had been set could be utilized in accordance with existing regulations.
