JAKARTA - The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) invites the younger generation to actively oversee the distribution of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) so that it is right on target and on volume.

"Subsidized BBM is not for everyone. In subsidized fuel there is state money, so it must be distributed right on target. This Z generation friends can help voice that subsidized fuel is only intended for underprivileged communities and certain other consumers, according to the applicable regulations," said Head of BPH Migas Erika Retnowati during the Kawan BPH Migas Gathering with the theme "Kongkow Berenergi: Downstream Migas On Duty", at the BPH Migas Office, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday 9 May.

In a statement in Jakarta, Thursday, Erika added that not only that, young people can also help oversee the distribution of subsidized fuel, considering that until now there are still parties who abuse it for personal gain.

"For example, if you see that at the gas station there are people who go back and forth to fill subsidized fuel for vehicles, it is possible that it will be sold again to other parties, not used by themselves. In fact, subsidized fuel cannot be traded. For that, please report it to the helpdesk BPH Migas at 081200000136," said Erika.

Other efforts that can be made by the younger generation are creating positive content, such as regarding subsidized fuel and consumers who are entitled to receive it, such as land transportation, agriculture, fisheries, public services, and MSMEs, and disseminating it through social media.

"The young generation is currently familiar with social media. It can also create positive content about the rules of subsidized BPH Migas or fuel. That will really help us carry out our duties and functions so that this subsidized fuel is only enjoyed by those who are entitled," he said.

Erika continued to supervise subsidized fuel, BPH Migas in collaboration with various parties such as law enforcement officials (APH), local governments, as well as related ministries or institutions.

With the support of the younger generation, it is hoped that the purpose of providing subsidies to increase people's purchasing power can be realized.

Secretary of BPH Migas Patuan Alfon S added that according to the mandate of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, BPH Migas has the task of regulating, establishing, and supervising the availability and distribution of fuel, national fuel reserves, utilization of fuel transportation and storage facilities, tariffs for natural gas transportation through pipes, natural gas prices for households and small customer businesses, as well as business of transmission and distribution of natural gas.

"In order for all Indonesians to enjoy the same fuel price, the government has also made a One Price Fuel policy which has been implemented since 2017. Until 2024, it is targeted to build 583 distributors of One Price Fuel," he said.

In addition, according to him, in 2023, according to the results of on desk verification and supervision of fuel distribution in the field, it has saved state money of IDR 62.65 billion.

This "Kongkow Berenergi" activity was first organized by BPH Migas with the aim of providing education on downstream oil and gas activities and the latest issues in the energy sector.

The theme "Kongkow Berenergi: Downstream Oil And Gas On Duty" illustrates the spirit of BPH Migas to maintain affordable energy availability for the community, accompanied by intensive regulation and supervision to maintain fuel subsidies on target and on volume.

"At the same time, it is also a real support for Indonesia's commitment to providing clean energy through increasing the use of natural gas in the country," he said.
