Pertamina Marine Engineering Working On 4 Strategic Underwater Projects

JAKARTA PT Pertamina Marine Engineering (PME), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental (PTK) completed 4 underwater work services (UWS) projects during the first quarter of 2024.

All UWS work completed by PME is proof of PME in supporting Indonesia's energy security.

The 4 UWS projects completed by PME are strategic projects consisting of 2 work on the Single Point Mooring (SPM) changeover or buoys/floating in the middle of the sea connected to pipes on land and 2 construction of underwater pipelines.

PME Director Yada Prawira Ganta revealed that the project is a synergy between PTK and PT Kilang Pertamina Indonesia (KPI) and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (VAT) in supporting the smooth distribution of national energy.

"UWS work is a service that requires special competence so that all UWS work is equipped with qualified equipment and also workers have received certification for Class I Submarine Workers issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower. In addition, PME is committed to completing work on time and meeting HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) standards," said Yada Prawira Ganta, Tuesday, May 7.

Yada explained that the floating dock construction project in the middle of the sea was worked on in the integrated area of Balongan Terminal, with the first stage of work replacing SPM 35,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT).

Then, the SPM 150,000 DWT changeover in Lawe-Lawe is the Balikpapan Refinery Unit V operation area.

There are also 2 underwater pipe work carried out at the Aviaton Fuel Terminal (AFT) or the Ngurah Rai Aircraft Filling Depot (DPPU) Bali for the inspection of the Submarine Pipeline (SPL), and the repair of the fuel oil (BBM) route through the Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) at the Ternate Fuel Terminal for phase I.

UWS services are one of the PME business lines that includes sea and coastal mapping services (hydrographic), topographic surveillance and land investigation services (topographic surveys and soil investigations) as well as underwater repair and maintenance services (underwater repair and maintenance).

This service also confirmed PME towards the marine engineering center company.
