JAKARTA - The development of electricity infrastructure is the main factor in supporting IKN.

The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Jisman P Hutajulu ensured that the progress of electricity infrastructure in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) went smoothly as planned.

Jisman said, the electricity supply that is environmentally friendly based on new and renewable energy will become a pioneer of electricity at IKN.

"One of the infrastructures in IKN is electricity, therefore this is very important, without electricity no one moves there," said Jisman, quoted on Saturday, May 4.

According to him, the preparation of electricity infrastructure from upstream to downstream must be detailed so that risk mitigation of problems that arise can be accommodated immediately.

"Hopefully the readiness of electricity as one of the main supporting infrastructures for the formation of IKN can be finalized immediately in accordance with the concept carried by IKN," said Jisman.

Jiisman hopes that every problem that arises related to technicality and electricity standardization is expected to be resolved jointly between PLN and related Ministries/Institutions reminding PLN's obligation to report existing progress periodically per 3 months.

"I hope that with our arrival, there will be more special reports to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources so that doubts or supervision of infrastructure development can run well," said Jisman.

Following up on the direction of the Director General of Electricity, the Director of Distribution of PT PLN (Persero) Adi Priyanto PLN will report specifically regarding the current conditions and electricity projections until the end of 2024 and so on according to directions.

Adi also mentioned the preparations for PLN in preparing for the Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024.

"Currently, PLN has prepared an event to commemorate Indonesia's independence on August 17, 2024 and previously the event to commemorate the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day will have several offices operating in July 2024 and of course the electricity supply must be prepared," said Adi.

Previously, PLN Nusantara Power President Director Ruly Firmansyah stated, PT PLN through PLN Nusantara Power will provide IKN electricity supply with a smart, beautiful and environmentally friendly forest city concept, including the 50 MG Solar Power Plant (PLTS) which will be used to electrify IKN, including during the 79th Indonesian Independence Anniversary ceremony on August 17, 2024.

"PLTS IKN can operate on time and can be used to electrify IKN during the Independence Day ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia. The first phase of synchronization with a capacity of 10 MW has been successfully carried out on schedule. We will continue with synchronization for the remaining 40 MW and carry out trials until later this PLTS can operate commercially to electrify IKN," said Ruly.

Just so you know, PLTS IKN 50 MW is the pioneer of the EBT plant in the IKN area. The groundbreaking was carried out directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo in November 2023. This PLTS was built on an area of 80 hectares with 21,600 solar panels and was able to absorb local workers up to 337 workers.
