Trenggono Says Five Vietnamese Company Will Invest In Lobster In RI

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said, there are five Vietnamese companies that have joint ventures with Indonesian companies to develop Lobster cultivation in Indonesia. These companies can get exclusive lobster seeds (BBL) from Indonesia if they meet a number of requirements set by the government.

"What is certain is that from Vietnam there are five companies, they promised to make cultivation near Jembrana or near Bali," Trenggono said at a press conference at the Indonesia Aquaculture Business Forum 2024 at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Monday, April 29.

Trenggono said that the preparation of cultivation is the main requirement so that various companies can bring in BBL from Indonesia. He said Jembrana itself became the location of choice due to a number of considerations.

"Why there? So, based on their research, maybe because of the flow and so on that is more suitable there. So, cultivation cannot be plotted in any place, they must do research so that the success rate is high," he said.

In the cooperation, Trenggono said the KKP suggested that BBL be set at a low price of IDR 8,500/tail.

Based on VOI records, the Government of Indonesia and Vietnam have officially established cooperation in the fisheries sector.

This collaboration was marked by the exchange of documents carried out by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan at the Vietnam Presidential Palace in Hanoi City, Friday, January 12.

The exchange of documents was witnessed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong.

"God willing, with the synergy of two neighboring countries that have the spirit of advancing together, they can encourage the advancement of the fisheries sector in each country," said Minister Trenggono in a written statement, quoted on Saturday, January 13.

Minister Trenggono said that the scope of cooperation covers many lines from upstream to downstream sectors. Among them, the development of capture fisheries and sustainable cultivation, guarantee of quality and safety of fishery products, investment to processing, promotion and trade in fishery products.

Cooperation with Vietnam also includes resistance to illegal, unreported, unregulated fishing practices, exchange of fishery data information, technology transfer and expert exchange, to improving the quality of human resources.

"One of the points in this collaboration concerns the development of lobster cultivation in Indonesia," he said.

In addition, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) also cooperated with the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in assisting the implementation of lobster governance after the issuance of Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation (Permen KP) Number 7 of 2024 concerning Management of Lobster, Crab and Crab, on March 18, 2024.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Aquaculture, Gemi Triastuti, said that this was done by his party so that the implementation of lobster governance, both in the field of catching and empowering lobsters in accordance with statutory regulations.

"This is an effort to maintain the sustainability of Lobster Seeds (BBL) and to benefit the community and state revenues," Gemi said as quoted from the KKP official website, Wednesday, April 24.
