Israel And Iran Are Not Included In The Top List Of Indonesian-Central East Trade Partners

JAKARTA - The global geopolitical situation is currently heating up, especially the conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Iran. In fact, the existence of conflict is considered to trigger new problems for countries that have trade cooperation relations with the two countries.

Acting Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said there are three countries that are Indonesia's main trading partners in the Middle East. In that list, no country is currently in conflict, namely Israel and Iran.

"We convey that with the Middle East region, countries that are Indonesia's main trading partners to the Middle East are Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman," he said at a press conference, in Jakarta, Monday, April 22.

Based on Amalia data, the largest trade is between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. Where the export value touched 2.08 billion US dollars with the largest contribution from vehicles and their parts, animal or vegetable fat and oil, and wood and wood goods.

Meanwhile, in terms of imports, it was recorded at 2.35 billion US dollars, the largest contribution was obtained from mineral fuels, precious metals and jewelry or gems, aluminum and goods.

Then, Indonesia's exports to Oman were recorded at US $ 0.34 billion. The contribution is obtained from animal or vegetable fats and oils, vehicles and their parts, mineral fuels.

Meanwhile, in terms of imports, it reached 1.85 billion US dollars, with contributions from iron and steel, mineral fuel, and organic chemicals.

Throughout 2023, continued Amalia, Indonesia's international trade in goods to the Middle East reached 19.20 billion US dollars. This value is only 4 percent of the total value of Indonesia's international trade that year.

Meanwhile, continued Amalia, Indonesia's export value to Iran was recorded at 195.13 million US dollars throughout 2023. This figure is about 2.51 percent of Indonesia's total exports to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Indonesia's import value from Iran reached 11.72 million US dollars or approximately 0.12 percent of total imports from the Middle East. Thus, continued Amalia, Indonesia experienced a trade balance surplus with Iran of around 183.41 million US dollars.

Amalia said that Indonesia's trade with Israel throughout 2023, the value of Indonesia's exports reached US$165.77 million or 1.83 percent of total exports to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, continued Amalia, the import value was only 21.93 million US dollars or 0.22 percent of Indonesia's total imports from the Middle East. That way, Indonesia also recorded a surplus of trade in goods with Israel.

"I underline, in general, it can be concluded that the trade value of Indonesian goods with Iran and Israel is relatively small. Both are not Indonesia's main trading partners in the Middle East region," he said.
