JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) supports 376 potential Micro, Small and Medium Fish Processing Units (UPI) spread across 12 provinces.

This support is so that the business that is run is more advanced and develops in terms of production and marketing.

Director General of Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) Budi Sulistiyo said that currently, curation of hundreds of MSMEs is being carried out to find out the needs of each business.

"We are currently curating, we will get a detailed portrait of MSMEs. What are the needs for us to build so that they can advance to class," Budi said as quoted from the official KKP website, Monday, April 22.

Budi said the curation process was carried out after the weighting of 1,883 MSMEs that already had a Processing Feasibility Certificate (SKP).

He said the team from the Directorate General of PDSPKP moved to 12 provinces to curate the MSMEs in detail.

"There are 12 provinces that we are targeting, this is spread from west to east and we are curating in detail," he said.

The 12 provinces in question are Riau Islands, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, South Sulawesi, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Bali and North Maluku. The curation process has been going on from March to April 2024.

"In this activity, we use the bottom up paradigm, what MSMEs need, that's what we do," said Budi.

In addition, Budi said that MSMEs can advance to class if they have met 6 aspects, namely the fulfillment of business legality.

Furthermore, said Budi, until now the KKP continues to provide assistance and provide convenience in business licensing.

In addition, he continued, KKP also continues to provide technical guidance and training in order to improve the competence of human resources, especially MSME actors.

"No less important is the production aspect, MSMEs also need to apply appropriate technology to increase their productivity," he said.

The KKP also encourages MSME players to go digital and be able to penetrate the export market through a series of mentoring activities in expanding market access, both domestic and export.

"Then, the financial aspect is so that MSMEs take advantage of an easy and cheap financing scheme through program credit, venture capital or other financing," he added.
