BOGOR - Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan opened his voice about public complaints on social media regarding the rules of congenital import goods. According to him, the public is too excessive in responding to new policies for luggage imports.
The regulation of congenital imported goods is regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) Number 36 of 2023, concerning the Policy and Regulation of imports.
"The Ministry of Trade is about complicated luggage, isn't it? If we are with our own nation, it will continue to be sluggish," he said when met in the Karang Asem Barat area, Citeureup, Bogor, Thursday, March 28.
The man who is familiarly called Zulhas also compared the applicable regulations at airports of several countries. For example, Saudi Arabia applies stricter inspection rules.
"Just take it off, just take the pants off, let alone put them in a bag. It's only natural that Customs and Excise is checking, that's natural, if the suspect is being investigated, he opens someone's suitcase. It's something normal. Why should it be noisy?," he said.
"Try to go, let alone go to Saudi Arabia, go in and be searched. It's a procedure in Customs and Excise that's normal," he continued.
According to Zulhas, when compared to other countries, the rules in Indonesia are the simplest. Therefore, he also asked the public to obey the rules that apply in the country.
"So I remind you that our Customs and Excise procedures are among the loosest. Let's try to go to Saudi Arabia, the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, and search. So obey the existing rules," he concluded.
Therefore, Zulhas also emphasized that his party would not relax this rule even though there were many complaints submitted by the public.
