JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas visited a gas station or gas station on the Jakarta-Cikampek Rest Area KM42 Toll Road in Karawang, West Java, today.

This is to follow up on findings from officers from the Directorate of Metrology of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) regarding the findings of additional switching equipment for 3 out of a total of 8 dispensers at the gas station.

"Based on the supervision we saw, it was found that the alleged illegal metrology field that occurred at the gas station in the Karawang Regency area, what was it? The pump at this gas station is installed with a takar device, this is not allowed. Because it can affect the calculation," said Zulhas at the Karawang gas station, Saturday, March 23.

Zulhas gave an example, when there were customers who filled up fuel at the gas station amounting to Rp. 20,000. However, only Rp. 15,000 was spent.

He even admitted that this incident had also been experienced. At that time, Zulhas wanted to fill up fuel for his vehicle of 40 liters. In fact, he said, the fuel obtained was only 30 liters.

"Including near my house. I fill 40 liters, 30 liters. This additional tool is not allowed, it is prohibited. So, there are a lot of losses suffered by consumers," he said.

According to Zulhas, this must be followed up immediately. Given, it will soon enter the Lebaran 2024 holiday period, which is predicted by many people to go home. Then, the travelers will definitely fill up with fuel.

"What we emphasize is that there should not be many national holidays (Idulfitri 1445 Hijri) going home, even some gas stations taking advantage of adding tools. This is detrimental to consumers. The calculation can be reduced a lot," he said.

"We have sealed this and (SPBU) cannot operate," he added.

Therefore, Zulhas also appealed to all gas stations in the country not to play games on fuel filling devices. This is because his party will check all gas stations in Indonesia.

"I urge all gas stations wherever they are, the Ministry of Trade will check everything. So, don't play games. Because it is very detrimental to consumers," he said.

According to Zulhas, the loss caused by the addition of switch equipment at the gas station could reach around Rp. 2 billion.

"The more pumps, the more detrimental it is. (Losses) per year if calculated can reach Rp. 2 billion," he added.
