BI's Way Of Minimizing The Circulation Of Counterfeit Money Ahead Of Eid

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) Surakarta is trying to minimize the circulation of counterfeit money among the public ahead of Lebaran 2024, one of which is trying to prevent money traders from happening on the streets.

Head of BI Representatives (Kpw) Surakarta Dwiyanto Cahyo Sumirat said other efforts were still using the SMART application to exchange new money.

He hopes that these various efforts can minimize the potential access that can be obtained by traders on the road.

"They will always find innovations to be able to break through those gaps, but we will still oversee the process," he said, quoting Antara.

Head of Implementation of BI Rupiah Money Management at the Surakarta Representative Office, Anang Dwi Mau Asharli, said that in previous years the exchange of new money specifically for the public was only carried out every Tuesday and Thursday, currently it can be done every day.

"Even until the last working day before the Lebaran holiday, we can still exchange at 93 points that we have prepared," he said.

In addition, his party is also trying to continue to remind the public that exchanging new money into money traders is very risky, including being subject to counterfeit money and inappropriate calculations.

"There has been an incident like that, it turns out that what was obtained was not 100 sheets. For traders there was also a risk, they were robbed several times, it was also a number of times that people seemed to want to buy but instead robbed them," he said.

Meanwhile, his party is also ready to coordinate with relevant agencies such as Satpol PP and the Police if the existence of money traders disturbs road users.

"Later, if for example there is an incident that is massive and disrupts traffic, maybe BI will ask the Satpol PP and the Police to be prepared to control it because it interferes with roads," he said.
