Stanford Will Build Research Center At IKN, This Is A Leak From The Head Of The Authority

JAKARTA - Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) Bambang Susantono said Stanford would build a research center at IKN. Bambang said the research center would be named the 'Knowledge Hub Nusantara'.

"Yesterday, many were asked about Stanford, later in time we will tell how our design is to create a research and technology cluster. The leak is called the Knowledge Hub Nusantara," Bambang told reporters after the National Coordination Meeting for the Capital of the Archipelago at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta, quoted Friday, March 15.

Bambang assessed that the groundbreaking activity for the sixth phase would be focused on the education sector.

Thus, the construction of a research center that will be carried out by Stanford is indeed in line with what is expected by the Government of Indonesia.

Furthermore, Bambang also gave a signal that Stanford would be involved in the sixth groundbreaking in May 2024.

"We are preparing and most likely will focus on those who yesterday did not have time to groundbreaking in several sectors," he said.

"There are several banking actors, possibly several developers. However, we want to focus on education. Education means from basic education to higher education, including research and universities," he added.

As previously reported, OIKN Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono said, there are a number of foreign countries that are interested in investing in IKN for the education sector. Agung said, one of them is England

"There are quite a lot of other international campuses (intending to enter IKN), I will spill tomorrow that there will be universities from England that will submit Letter of Intent (LoI)," said OIKN Deputy for Funding and Investment Agung Wicaksono in the media briefing on the 5th Groundbreaking Preparation Update for the Capital of the Archipelago online, quoted Wednesday, February 28.

Agung added that the campus from England had submitted a LoI and would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

"I haven't said it yet, but the United States has and the United Kingdom as well and there will be many other universities whose targets are this education to be in the future sector," he said.

Meanwhile, OIKN spokesman Troy Pantouw said Australia was also interested in entering the world of education at IKN.

He added that OIKN had also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability and Stanford University, California, United States.

"Through this MoU, Stanford and his alumni are committed to building a world-class research center with quality at IKN," he added.
