Pertamina Contributes 68 Percent Of Crude Oil Production In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Pertamina is the largest producer of crude oil in Indonesia. Until the end of 2023, through the upstream subholding of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, it reached a production rate of up to 566 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD), or 68 percent of national crude oil production.

Meanwhile, gas production in 2023 from upstream subholding contributed 33 percent of national production, or the equivalent of 2,766 million Standard Foot Kubik per Day or Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD). Thus, Pertamina's oil and gas production (oil and gas) reached 1,044 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOEPD).

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso said Pertamina Group is the largest contributor to national oil production. Based on data from the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), most of the 10 largest oil producing companies operating domestically, are Pertamina's subsidiaries or affiliates.

"Pertamina contributes the majority to Indonesia's oil production. This shows our commitment in maintaining national energy security," said Fadjar in a statement to the media, Thursday, March 14.

Fadjar said, the largest oil and gas production came from Pertamina EP, Pertamina ONWJ, Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, and Pertamina Hulu Rokan which took over the Rokan Block operations in August 2021. The Rokan block was able to contribute to the highest oil production in Indonesia, which was 161,623 bpd.

"In the hands of Pertamina's subsidiary, oil field production in the Rokan Block continues to increase, so as to be able to contribute significantly to national oil production," concluded Fadjar.
