There Is A Production Reduction In Banyu Urip, EMCL Explains The Reason

JAKARTA - Senior Vice President Production, ExxonMobil Indonesia Muhammad Nurdin revealed the reason why oil production in Banyu Urip has decreased from 2022.

It is known that oil production at Banyu Urip pleh ExxonMobil Cepu Ltd. (EMCL) in 2023 is 155,444 or down from the previous 165,891.

"So indeed Banyu Urip Field has not been plated or off the plate since 2021, but Alhamdulillah, in 20022 we can hold back the production rate that continues to be declining," said Nurdin, quoted on Thursday, March 14.

Although EMCL's oil production has decreased from the previous year, Nurdin ensured that the production of the Cepu Block oil was still above the APBN target.

To increase oil production again, Nurdin ensured that his party continued to drill. One of the steps taken this year is to do carbonate and cyclic infill wells in Banyu Urip.

"Our focus is on Banyu Urip and Pertamina, we are currently conducting a drilling program. This year there will be 2 wells in carbonate, reservoir where we will produce 2 wells this year. The remaining 5 wells will be completed by 2025 and early 2026," he continued.

For information, the drilling of carbonate infill wells is part of the drilling campaign in the Cepu Block carried out by Exxonmobil starting in 2024 to 2026 which consists of drilling 5 carbonate infill wells and 2 plastics wells.

This drilling activity was carried out between the existing production wells in the Banyu Urip field to collect oil that could not be taken by the previous well as well as to prove reserves for reservoir plastics (stone reservoirs).

This activity is expected to increase Banyu Urip's field production by 42 million barrels so that it can increase oil production in the Banyu Urip field, which currently contributes about 25 percent of oil production nationally.
